About Herbaceous.

Herbaceous perennials are versatile plants that will grow in most situations and soils. No longer restricted to a specific bed or border you can use them in a wide range of conditions from that dry patch near the tree to moist boggy bit by the pond. From a seemingly empty border the most beautiful range of flowers appear every year. Gardeners may remember all the staking that the taller varieties needed. These are still available and worth the effort, but there are many new compact types that require no support at all, a bonus to gardeners with less time to spare.
